The 2017 AFL London Season – Bigger, Better, with a Brand New Division!

Published: Monday 21 August 2017

We’re proud to sponsor AFL London and have really enjoyed meeting so many of you recently. Congratulations to all this season’s winners – and to the winners of our Prize Draw.
Here’s a roundup of the season from David Field, AFL London Chairman, featuring some of your highlights and shout outs from some our winners.

What a year!
The 2017 AFL London season has seen immense growth from last year and has been a highly successful season for all involved.
New Division
We’ve been able to add a whole new division – the Women's Conference – which has harnessed the addition of 4 new women's teams and well over 100 new players to our league.
New Partners
Our new partnership with Halo Financial has been fantastic and particularly helped us revamp our umpires, which has been a department in need of improvement for a long time.

Our partnership with BarTV has gone from strength to strength, with the streaming of the entire finals' series this year, allowing our community all over the world to tune in live.
New Awards
Having a formal awards' night was also important to recognise the extremely hardworking volunteers on and off the field, who make our league the best outside of Australia.
A Great, Gusty Grand Final Day
And lastly, Grand Final Day, despite the weather throwing every possible challenge at us, proved to be one of the biggest in recent times and was the perfect finale to a massive year.

Huge congratulations to our Halo Financial prize draw winners!

1st prize - White Water raft adventure gift voucher for two – Lee Graham
2nd prize - £75 voucher for the Aqua Shard – Laura Blanco
3rd prize - Evening river Thames cruise for two – Mason Popata

Winner of Third Prize, an Evening Thames Cruise For Two, Mason Popata, summed up the season with a shout out to the South East London Giants.
“The South East London Giants' girls played out of their skins against the formidable demons in the finals. We train out of Victoria Park and Peckham Rye common and are always looking for new men and women to join the ranks.
