Markets quiet ahead of Thursday's ECB meeting

Published: Monday 07 March 2016

The Euro is mixed as markets wait on the ECB meeting later in the week. Eurozone Sentix investor confidence dropped to 5.5 in March versus expectation of rising to 8.5. Sentix noted that "the Euro zone is suffering from the loss of momentum in the global economy." And, "after a drop in expectations readings in the last few months, the deterioration is now spilling over into the real economy." German factory orders also dropped by -0.1% month on month in January.

ECB meeting is the main focus this week and the central bank could announce a set of stimulus measures. Those include pushing deposit rates further negative or expansion of the monthly asset purchases.
