US labour market continues to show improvement

Early this afternoon the US released last month’s unemployment claims. The figure was 267k against an expectation of 271k versus the previous of 276k. Some Fed members believe with a strong job market and steady economic growth, the Fed should raise interest rates this month. All eyes will be on the Fed chair, Janet Yellen tonight as she speaks in New York. Yellen’s take on these figures could cause volatility for the USD as traders attempt to decipher clues to interest rate hikes.
