On 30th April, the Canadian Province of Manitoba will reopen its Skilled Worker Overseas application programme, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), designed to recruit new qualified foreign workers or eligible immigrants from all over the world. The MPNP will include improvements for the new Federal ‘Express Entry’ skilled immigration system, which was enacted earlier this year to expedite the application process for highly qualified candidates. Currently only applicants who meet all of the following criteria can be considered for nomination under the MPNP Express Entry sub-stream:
- Those who have an existing open application with a MPNP file number in the Skilled Worker Overseas stream; and
- Those who have the potential to meet the eligibility criteria of at least one of the three federal economic immigration programmes included in Express Entry according to the assessment of a MPNP Immigration Officer based on the documents included with your current application.
The expanded process for considering more Manitoba applicants for nomination through the Express Entry system, due to come into force at the end of April, will aid the Canadian government’s bid to administer an overall 280,000 visas to new permanent residents by the end of this year.
